Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has tasked carpenters in the state to be more creative in production to improve their business and attract more customers.
The governor, who was speaking during the “Katsina Interior and Furniture Expo” held in the state, said by being more creative, it would make their products unique.
He said: ”Most people nowadays like unique products, therefore, by creating more furniture designs, it will generate more customers for them and the business will keep moving.
“This event was aimed at giving the carpenters the opportunity to showcase their products for the world to know that they can do better.
“I want people to understand that this exhibition was done to withdraw the government’s involvement in this kind of thing”.
According to him, the government has done its best by providing the necessary support to assist and encourage them to be more self-reliant.
“What the government should do was to show the people the right way, it is left for them to follow and make proper use of the opportunity.
“For instance, we have the market, but you only know your own, then we decided to expand it so that the whole world should know that at a particular market, this particular product is produced”, Masari said.
He advised the carpenters’ association on how to take the business to the next level, saying, ”there are lots of opportunities even beyond the state’s boundaries”.
According to Masari, technology has made it easier for people to advertise their products online to attract customers from somewhere else.
Reports say that while going round to see the various products assembled, Masari commended the participants for their wonderful efforts.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Katsina Carpenters’ Association, Malam Kabir Isiyaku, commended the Governor for providing them with land to establish capenters’ village.
According to him, they will continue to appreciate the unique gesture and the people of the state.
Isyaku added that one of the major areas the Governor can be remembered after his tenure was the effort he made towards making the youths more self-reliant.

The overseeing Director-General, National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Mr Akinwumi Somefun, has urged Nigerians to patronise Made-in-Nigeria products instead of imported ones.
Somefun, who said this in an interview with The Tide’s source recently in Abuja, urged Nigerians to substitute imported goods with Made-in-Nigeria products to boost the Federal Government’s policies on industrialisation and economic growth.
According to him, patronising local goods and services will boost the nation’s revenue and also reduce capital flight.
“It would strengthen the economy and create more jobs for the unemployed. Nigerian products are produced from the locally sourced raw materials which would sustain the supply chains.
“More consumption of our own indigenously produced goods will bring about more employment opportunities, keep the supply chains going and increase economic efficiency and earnings.
“Most of the products we produce in NBTI incubation centres are well packaged, has high quality and exported which earns us foreign exchange”, he said.

A team leader in the new generation income space, Metaforce, Pastor Chukwu Umeje, has reiterated the need for business men and women to embrace the digital currency business.
Pastor Umeje said this last Sunday during a business seminar of Metaforce in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He stated the need to get involved in digital currency business and earn in dollars, saying that multiple streams of income remain the only saving grace for people in the present excruciating situations facing the citizens of Nigeria.
He noted that Metaforce digital smart contract is plugged on Blockchain and so do not have the problem of crashing, as the developer does not have access to people’s money.
The team leader called on the business community to key into the programme and make money in dollars while in Nigeria, adding that digital business has come to stay.
“Digital business and making money through it has come to stay. So, the earlier one embraces it, the better. Metaforce has the answer to so many questions”, he said.
In her contribution, a member of the team, Mrs. Chinyere Onuegh, said the fears entrepreneurs have, based on their past experiences in doing business on the digital space, has been addressed by Metaforce.
Onuegbu noted that she was attracted to Metaforce based on its involvement with Blockchain, adding that in Metaforce, money does not go into any central account which results in crashing, “because someone has ran away with the money.
“People’s urgly experiences in this country is a problem, but most of the experience is as a result of lack of knowledge. When business men and women seek knowledge before venturing into investment, they succeed”.
Another entrepreneur, Mr. David Orok, described Metaforce as the best thing that happened to him in the digital space, stating that having multiple streams of income is an antidote to poverty and financial stress.
Orok said gone are the days when one source of income can sustain the needs of the family, as the prices of goods and services “keeps going up day in day out without a corresponding increase in source of income”.
