The National Basketball Association (NBA) has extended its broadcast rights agreement with Sky Sports for the 2022/23 season.
The renewal will see NBA fixtures remain on the pay-TV channel across the UK and Ireland, with the broadcaster’s weekly live coverage set to include one primetime evening fixture every Saturday and Sunday.
The deal prolongs an agreement dating back to the 2018/19 season, when Sky took over NBA coverage from rival BT Sport.
All told, Sky Sports will deliver 135 regular season games during the 2022/23 campaign, as well as coverage of the NBA All-Star Weekend, the playoffs, conference finals and NBA Finals.
Like last season, the weekly primetime game on Sunday evenings will be streamed for free on Sky Sports’ YouTube Channel, in addition to the coverage on Sky Sports Arena.
For the upcoming campaign, Sky is also launching a new magazine show called ‘NBA on Fire’, which will provide analysis of the previous week’s games each Friday.
Sky will continue to offer other shoulder programming such as NBA Action, which will be shown throughout the season on Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Mix.
