LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) – Forty future Division 1 basketball players will take the court during four games of the Louisville Play-By-Play Classic on Sunday at Freedom Hall, with one ticket allowing fans to catch all the action.
The lineup features five of Kentucky’s best teams against five top national teams, in what organizers are billing as the best single-day boys high school showcase event to hit Louisville in more than a decade.
The schedule includes:
12:30 p.m.: DeSales (KY) vs. Movrian (GA)
2:15 p.m.: Woodford County (KY) vs. Buchtel (OH)
4 p.m.: North Oldham (KY) vs. SPIRE Institute (OH)
5:45 p.m.: Trinity (KY) vs. Huntington Prep (WV)
7:30 p.m.: North Laurel (KY) vs. Imhotep (PA)
More than 40 Division I players will be in action, including North Laurel’s Reed Sheppard, who has committed to the University of Kentucky; Imhotep’s Justin Edwards, the second-ranked senior in the country and another UK commit; Woodford County’s Jasper Johnson, a USA Top 15 Sophomore and Trinity’s Jayden Johnson, a USA Top 20 Freshman.
Others include North Oldham’s 2023 point guard Dallas Roberts; Huntington Prep’s USA Top 75 Juniors Dillon Tingler, Del Jones, and Jordan McCullum; Buchtel’s Amire Robinson, committed to Nevada; SPIRE’s Daniel Pounds, an Old Dominion commit; and Tyshawn Archie, who will attend James Madison.
This is the first time in 16 years that the Play-By-Play Classic is being held in Kentucky. Organizers say this is the nation’s top high school basketball showcase event in the country and where more than 120 NBA players got their start, including Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Rajon Rondo, Kyle Lowry, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Andrew Wiggins, and LaMelo Ball.
