The Red Circle CEO edged out seven other competitors to claim the spot, to which he said, “I am really happy to have won this, the other nominees are doing great things in their respective fields and I must commend them for this. We are all winners in our rights.”
He started out as a graphics designer and right now, has impacted a lot of lives with the learner initiative, where he trains youths for free on graphics design, digital marketing, and many more. He graduated from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) and 02 Academy Lagos.

The under-25 Incubator program equips early-stage entrepreneurs with the support they need to transform audacious ideas into scalable and sustainable ventures.
For this year, there were 5,000 nominations, but only 127 entrepreneurs made the shortlist into which 25 winners emerged in the 25 categories.

Nigerian property technology startup, SmallSmall, has secured $3 million ($2 million equity and $1 million debt) in seed funding to expand its footprints in Nigeria.
SmallSmall lets landlords access quality tenants and curb defaults by receiving monthly payments where they receive extra margins of about 10-15 per cent.
The round was led by Oyster VC, Asymmetry Ventures, Vivaz, and Niche Capital. Meanwhile, individual angels such as Sean Fannan of Chartboost, Adam Meghji of Universe, Jimmy Ku of Flutterwave, Samir Goel and Wemimo Abbey of Esusu, Jason Njoku of Iroko, and Tunde Kara of Vendease participated.
The company announced that with the new injection, it plans to penetrate other main cities in Nigeria, including Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Jos, before the end of the first quarter of 2023.
Speaking on this, Mr Tunde Balogun, co-founder of the startup, said, “We started by understanding the pain points of landlords. Even though they collected rent one year upfront, the default rate of the yearly system is very high because when people’s finances take a hit, they might not be able to pay subsequent rent.”
“The legal process of evicting tenants where they’ll have to wait six to 12 months is also not supportive of the landlords,” he added.
He explained that the firm also wants to use this new investment to support its vision of providing flexible, quality housing solutions and financing to intending home buyers.
“When we look at the fundamentals of housing as a basic human need, it’s not just when people have access to homes but also in home ownership.
“Homeownership can improve the economic status in one way or another because it generates passive income for people to meet other needs. So we want to play a part in that and help young people in their journey from renting to investing to eventually buying real estate.”
In addition, the startup will continue building its technology and partnerships with landlords, developers, property and asset managers, and other key stakeholders.
Formerly RentSmallSmall, the Lagos-based startup claims to give renters access to monthly rent payments while offering landlords a way to vet tenants.
Mr Balogun co-founded the startup with Naomi Olaghere and Pidah Tnadah in 2018. It announced that it has processed over 25,000 monthly stays across Lagos and Abuja and has a 7 per cent rent default rate, saving property owners over $1.5 million in damages and tenants over $1.2 million in broker fees.

Suddenly washing the dishes becomes meaningful, with kids incentivised to help keep the family home humming along happily.

Take the burden of tackling household chores off your shoulders by hiring in help through the new SweepSouth home-cleaning services app.
Quick and easy to use, this app allows you to hire a trustworthy, reliable, and professional domestic worker to come in for a few hours to clean your home, allowing you to take a break and relax, spending time doing the things you love. And, says SweepSouth Country Manager Awazi Angbalaga, by making a booking through the app, you directly create work opportunities at a time when many domestic workers are struggling to find employment.

You can also set a timer to limit viewing time, block certain content, turn off search options, and change search history settings.

The popular Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja has been shut down by the management over security threats, a statement from the company has confirmed.
A few days ago, the United States and the United Kingdom governments issued a security alert to their citizens in Nigeria, warning that there could be attacks from terrorists.
These warnings were rebuffed by the Nigerian government, which urged residents of the country to remain calm as their lives and property were in safe hands.
On Wednesday, it was reported that two suspects were allegedly arrested at an estate in Abuja with explosives packed in boxes. The arrest was reportedly made by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS).
This has created panic in Abuja, and on Thursday, the management of Jabi Lake Mall announced the closure of the facility in the “interest of the safety of all staff and customers of the mall.”
“Jabi Lake Mall will be closed today, Thursday, 27 October 2022. This decision has been taken in the overall interest of the safety of all staff and customers of the mall.
“Centre Management is committed to minimising any disruptions; however, the safety of our staff and shoppers remains our highest priority. Management is constantly reviewing the security situation in consultation with relevant security authorities and will inform you when the mall will be re-opened.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to provide you with a quality shopping experience soon,” the statement said.
