Police who are hunting for television presenter Katie Piper’s acid attacker believe he may have left the country 10 weeks ago.
Stefan Sylvestre, 34, is on the run after he was recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions.
Officers who are seeking him say “inquiries undertaken so far indicate” he left the UK on August 2.
Scotland Yard, who was notified on September 23 that Sylvestre had been recalled, say he should not be approached.
His last known address was in north London.
Stefan Sylvestre, from Shepherd’s Bush, west London, was given a life sentence in 2009 for the attack and was told he must serve a minimum of six years before he would be eligible for parole. He was released in 2018, aged 30.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s specialist crime command are trying to locate and arrest him.
They are asking anyone who has information on his whereabouts to get in touch.
In the acid attack, Piper suffered horrific injuries and was left permanently scarred.
Her obsessive ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch arranged for Sylvestre to throw the corrosive liquid in March 2008 which left Piper fighting for her life.
Lynch was jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years for sexually assaulting Piper and telling Sylvestre to throw the acid over her.
The pair dated briefly before Lynch became obsessively jealous. He had a previous conviction for pouring boiling water over a man.
In court, Judge Nicholas Browne QC told Lynch and Sylvestre that they were “the face of pure evil”.
