The UNC football program heads into the ACC Championship game against Clemson this weekend looking to get revenge from the 2015 ACC Title game, as well as the near-upset from 2019.
It was Sam Howell’s freshman season and he did not disappoint, throwing for 144 yards and two touchdowns. The dynamic running back duo of Michael Carter and Javonte Williams combined for 148 yards on 26 carries and one touchdown.
Dyami Brown led the Heels through the air with three catches for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Clemson struggled all day and despite taking a late lead in the fourth quarter, the Tar Heels came back down the field and scored with 1:17 left. The score 21-20 and a chance to tie it with an extra point, Mack Brown decided to go for two and try to win it. Unfortunately, the Javonte Williams two-point conversion try came up short.
The Tar Heels would fall, 21-20, despite a great run and potential upset of the top-ranked Clemson Tigers.
Trevor Lawrence had 206 yards and one touchdown while adding another touchdown and 45 yards on the ground. Travis Etienne had 67 yards and one touchdown as well.
Here is a look at some of the photos from the game.
