Pat Foley to Call NHL Winter Classic for Sports USA

Sports USA has announced that Hockey Hall of Famer Pat Foley will be the play-by-play announcer for its national radio broadcast of the Discover 2023 Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, January 2 from historic Fenway Park in Boston at 1:30pm ET.
Foley, who served as the voice of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks for 39 years and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014, will be joined by analyst Nick Olzcyk, who currently serves as a radio and TV analyst for the NHL’s Seattle Kraken and television analyst of the New England Sports Network (NESN). Billy Jaffe will serve as rinkside reporter.
“The opportunity to join Sports USA and debut at a marquee event in a spectacular setting is very exciting,” said Foley. “I’m looking forward to sitting next to Nick Olzcyk, who is a terrific analyst. I cut my teeth in radio and keeping up with the fastest game in the world is always a challenge, but one that I’m very much looking forward to.”
“I’ve always loved Pat’s work with the Blackhawks,” added Sports USA founder Larry Kahn. “When he retired after last season, I, like so many of his fans, felt a profound sense of sadness. He is unquestionably a legend in the broadcast industry, and having him come out of retirement for an event like the Winter Classic is a great way to start off the New Year for Sports USA and all hockey fans.”
