A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in the street.
The 29-year-old was discovered badly injured with stab wounds in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham, shortly after 11pm last night.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene on Washington Drive.
A steady flow of well-wishers were seen arriving with flowers at around 3pm today.
One tribute, left on a brick wall at the scene, read: "RIP. You will never be ever forgotten. Fly high brother as your wings will always be behind us all.
"You will be sadly missed but we will always be there for you. RIP Bro."
West Midlands Police have erected a cordon and forensic investigations are being carried out.
Officers are also conducting house-to-house enquiries.
Patrols have been stepped up in the area following the tragedy, with extra officers out in the area over the next few days.
No arrests have been made and anyone with information has been urged to contact West Midlands Police's homicide unit via Live Chat on the website or by calling 101 quoting log 4527 of 21/10.
Detective Inspector Jim Mahon said: "We are in the very early stages of our enquiry and we are asking anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to us to come forward.
"The victim’s family have been informed and we have specialist family liaison officers with them after hearing just devastating news."
