Most watch the war in Ukraine with horror… but Dr Freda could not look on from afar – her courage is awe… – The Sun

MOST of us watch the war in Ukraine with horror, anguish and no little gratitude for our own safety.
Dr Freda Newlands, 62, could not look on from afar.
A specialist in emergency medicine, she has spent months in the war zone and saved countless lives.
Dr Freda recently spent two months in Ukraine with the frontline medical aid charity UK-Med, treating victims of the war.
She has also helped treat trauma casualties on the Syrian border and helped tackle a deadly outbreak of diphtheria in Bangladesh.
Her courage and selflessness are awe-inspiring, as the King found — and every VIP and guest at yesterday’s glittering Who Cares Wins awards did too.
Dr Freda Newlands, 62, thought she was attending a reception at Dumfries HouseAyrshire, but instead was greeted by His Majesty asking: “Is there a Dr Freda in the house?”
