LSU Football: USA TODAY Sports FBS re-rank entering 2022 – LSU Wire

We’re just two days away from actual football being played, and that means it’s almost time to shift gears from preseason mode to regular-season mode. What better time to rank all 131 teams (up one from last year with the addition of James Madison) in the FBS?
USA TODAY Sports’ Paul Myerberg recently released his re-rank of the entire top level of college football, and LSU sits squarely in the upper third of FBS at No. 43 in the rankings. That ranks ahead of similarly situated SEC teams in Florida (No. 46) and Auburn (No. 62).
The Tigers also sit just a few spots below a pair of conference foes in Tennessee (No. 41) and Arkansas (No. 35). Unsurprisingly, Alabama and Georgia sit near the top of the rankings in the No. 1 and 3 spots, respectively.
LSU hopes to turn things around after last season’s 6-7 campaign that resulted in the dismissal of head coach Ed Orgeron. The Tigers replaced him with one of the most accomplished coaches in college football in Brian Kelly, who is expected to turn things around quickly on the bayou, but he faces a challenge in Year 1 with a roster that will feature a number transfers playing key roles.
