Kings County has announced the allocation of up to $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, approved by the County Board of Supervisors on July 12.
The funding comes from Kings County’s allocation of $29.7 million from the ARPA’s $65.1 billion in direct, flexible aid offered to every county in the country.
The $500,000 will be distributed to Avenal ($45,000), Corcoran ($75,000), Hanford ($185,000), Lemoore ($85,000) and unincorporated areas of Kings county ($110,000) based on population.
Applicants must maintain a current and valid business license, have 100 or fewer full-time employees and have been in operation prior to March 15, 2020 to be eligible for the grant. This program considers full-time employees to be working 40 hours per week, with two part-time employees meeting the requirements to equal one full-time employee.
Businesses meeting eligibility requirements will be awarded up to $5,000 for the development of digital marketing programs including professionally produced website videos, website design and upgrades, social media marketing ads and print media for publishing on websites.
The grant does not include funding for printing costs of advertising.
The grant will not be offered to community based organizations (CBOs) who receive state or federal funding, businesses that refused to comply with COVID-19 safety regulations, businesses with active code enforcement violations, businesses that have, in the past three years, filed for bankruptcy or have outstanding tax liens, or businesses in the cannabis or tobacco industry.
Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, with Kings County contacting awardees with contract details.
Documents providing expenditure breakdowns will be required at the conclusion of the program, with expenditures deemed to be outside the scope of the program required to be repaid to Kings County.
Submissions of applications for the program can be sent to info.KingsDigitalMedia@co.kings.ca.us. Businesses encountering issues with submissions can contact Kyria Martinez at (559) 852-2377.
