A WOMAN has been booted from her apartment for keeping a secret from her landlord – now she's homeless.
Sophia was abruptly kicked out of her £450-a-week Sydney flat two weeks after moving in.
The young woman, who moved from Los Angeles, said her landlord let her go after discovering she had bought a dog.
A visibly distressed Sophia said in one clip: "I just moved [in] two weeks ago, and I’m going to have to move out."
She was forced to pay four weeks rent – £1800 – for breaking her lease and claims to have had £1000 in jewellery stolen from the luxury flat.
Sophia, who is a full-time influencer, suspects her landlord discovered her four-legged secret using the building's camera system.
"This building is very crazy, and they noticed I have a dog," she said.
"It’s been really tough the last few weeks. I don’t want to go through all this again – finding a place, moving, losing more things.
"Times like this just make me feel more alone and – like – what am I doing here?"
Sophia faced finding a new home at a time when Aussies are struggling rentals.
"When the rental market is so ridiculous in SYDNEY, so that you don’t declare your dog, and then you are forced to move out cause you have a dog," she said online.
According to Aussie broadcaster SBS, the number of affordable rentals in the country has been at an all-time low as vacancy rates remain stubbornly down.
Despite breaking her lease, Sophia's real estate agent helped her find a new property.
But her movers "ghosted" her the day she was set to move, forcing her to reschedule.
TikTok user were divided over the matter.
"Sorry this has happened, Sophia; although it’s hard right now, you appear to thrive here," one person wrote.
"I’m so sorry this happened to you. You are so strong! Sending love," wrote another.
"Keep fighting for what you want. It’s hard being a migrant, but the fulfilment you get from living your life is the best," said a third.
Others were less sympathetic.
"You created this situation, unfortunately," one person said.
"It’s sad, but pets can be extremely destructive, and landlords deserve to know the truth," another said.
