As the BBC’s popular business show continues its 2023 series, some might be wondering how long Dragons’ Den has been on UK television screens.
The show, which is now an international brand, originally started in Japan before being picked up by BBC controllers.
Dragons’ Den has seen huge changes over its run with the dragons and the show’s locations constantly evolving.

Dragons’ Den first aired via the BBC on January 4, 2005, meaning the popular format has been going strong for over 18 years.
The show has seen 19 series, with it being on its 20th as of the time of writing.
In that time, Dragons’ Den has changed remarkably.

The first series of Dragons’ Den had a slightly different lineup compared to the host of Dragons we enjoy today.
Season one comprised Duncan Bannatyne, who left the show after season 12, Rachel Elnaugh, Doug Richard, Simon Wood, and Peter Jones, who still stars today.
The show has also had various locations over its lifetime with it originally being filmed in a furniture depository in Stoke Newington before finding its way to Granada in Manchester.
Dragons’ Den airs again on Thursday, January 12 at 8 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
