A DRUNKEN air passenger who grabbed an easyJet attendant by the throat has been jailed for six months.
Colin Smith, 51, flipped when Carley Griffith stopped him going to the loo as the flight was about to land.
He looked at her vacantly before grabbing her round the neck with both hands.
She tried to push him off and he fell on a seated passenger.
Two other holidaymakers waded in and managed to restrain him on the flight from Malta.
He was arrested on landing in Manchester and told police he bought two bottles of whisky at the airport and had downed most of one.
The crane operator, of Hull, had been on a 50th birthday trip, Minshull Street crown court heard.
He admitted being drunk on an aircraft and beating by assault.
As he was being led off the aircraft by officers, his long-term partner Hayley Whitehand told staff: “I told him he shouldn't drink whiskey.”
