Buffalo moves up in U.S. News & World Report's Best Places to Retire list – Buffalo Business First – The Business Journals

Buffalo is making strides when it comes to retirees.
The city ranked 75th in U.S. News & World Report’s latest Best Places to Retire list. That’s an improvement from last year’s No. 99 ranking and No. 126 ranking in 2020.
The study evaluated the 150 most populated metro areas in the country, considering factors such as housing affordability, desirability, happiness, job market, retiree taxes and health care quality.
Though Buffalo’s standing improved this year, it remains the lowest ranking area in New York state to make the list. Here’s how other state metros fared:
14. New York City, compared to No. 32 last year
41. Syracuse, compared to No. 49 last year
50. Rochester, compared to No. 55 last year
61. Albany, compared to No. 74 last year
In the latest rankings, Pensacola, Florida, was dethroned after topping the list the last two years. Lancaster and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, came in first and second, followed by Pensacola.
A breakdown of the scores and the full Best Places to Retire list are on the U.S. News & World Report website.
