BRITS can expect to bask in 19C sunshine today after thunderstorms, heavy rain and torrential hail.
Thundery outbreaks moved across the country this morning, mostly affecting southwest England and parts of Wales.
And gusts of up to 50mph are forecast to batter the majority of the country later today.
However, temperatures remain high for the time of year.
Parts of the south of England near the Bristol area are expected to reach highs of 19C – when it is normally just 14C or 15C.
The Met Office told The Sun Online today's temperatures are expected to peak in the early afternoon.
While the north remains chilly with highs of 13C, the midlands could see conditions of around 17C.
However, weather charts show it could potentially reach a balmy 22C in parts of the South West.
But as Autumn officially sets in, the warm air won't last too long.
Heavy rain is expected for the rest of the week and it will feel unsettled for most.
A spokesperson for The Met Office said: "It will be cloudy for most, with some high winds, especially on the west coast of Wales.
"Later today, another band of rain will move in from the northwest, some of which could be heavy in nature.
"Despite mild temperatures in the south for the time of year, the unsettled feeling to the weather will continue through the next few days and into the weekend."
The downpour tonight will cause wet and windy conditions for the west – particularly in Northern Ireland.
The strong winds will then blow over patchy fog to central, south and western areas of the UK on Thursday.
