BRITS are set to sweat through humid 23C days with heavy showers – before a sudden chill hits at the end of the week.
Today is likely to bring rain in the southern parts of the UK, which is expected to get heavier in the evening, while the northern areas will continue enjoying the sunshine.
But, temperatures are set to be unseasonably warm through the middle of the week with lows in the mid 20Cs and a high of 23C in the south.
This will mean humid, sticky days.
By Thursday a high-pressure system is expected to bring drier but cooler temperatures, sitting in the mid-to-high teens by the end of the week.
BBC weather forecaster Simon King said: “The rain that we did have on Monday, around central portions of the UK, you can see that from the clouds there earlier on, that is gradually moving further southwards.
"Sunny spells to the north and the south of that, but as we go through the next few days, well this high pressure will start to move its way in.
"Now during Tuesday we will see some rain across the far south of England just on this weather front.
"Showers just gradually getting a bit heavier as the day goes on and they will move in from the English Channel to affect south Wales through southern areas of England.
"Further north though it is looking dry on Tuesday, again there will be some sunny spells for many and again feeling quite fresh especially across Scotland, temperatures here around 15C or 16C.
"A fresher day for many across England and Wales except the far south where it could still feel quite warm and humid.
"Throughout Tuesday and night that rain could be quite heavy in some parts, that could see surface water spray into the evening ."
By the end of the week it will feel cooler due to the low pressure coming from Scandinavia, the high pressure out to the Atlantic, and northly wind coming from the Arctic.
This comes after England recorded its joint hottest summer ever after temperatures soared into a sizzling new high of 40.3C.
The MetOffice said provisional data collected during June, July and August showed a tie with 2018 for the seasonal record.

Most areas fine and dry with sunny spells. A few light showers for northern and western Scotland. Cloudier across southern UK with spells of rain, heavy at times. Light winds for much of east and central UK but breezy elsewhere.
Rain continuing in far south with some heavy bursts likely. Otherwise dry for many but still some light showers for northwestern parts. Another mild night in far south.
Rain in far south, some heavy at first, easing and clearing to the southeast. Otherwise mostly fine and dry though still some showers in northwest, heavier later for far north.
A good deal of dry weather with sunny or clear periods. Northern and eastern areas will see some showers and here it will be breezy. Rather cool everywhere.
