The 2022 Billie Jean King Cup finals will be shown on UK public service broadcaster the BBC and pay-TV network BT Sport.
The deal for the international women’s team tennis tournament means all of Great Britain’s matches in Glasgow will be broadcast on the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer streaming service. Great Britain’s opening tie against Kazakhstan on 8th November will also be available to watch on the BBC’s Red Button platform.
BT Sport, which also has co-exclusive rights, will televise every single tie from 8th to 13th November. It is the first time the tournament’s finals have been hosted by Great Britain since 1991.
“To have the world’s best players coming to Britain for such a prestigious tournament offers a wonderful platform to promote our sport and maximise visibility,” said Richard Daish, Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) marketing and commercial director.
“Hopefully the images that will be going into homes across the UK will inspire some girls and boys to pick up a racket for the first time.”
Richard Armstrong, commercial director at BBC Sport, added: “We are delighted to bring extensive coverage of the Billie Jean King Cup to the widest possible UK audience. In what has been an incredible year for women’s sport already, we look forward to showing all of Great Britain’s matches and the finals live from Glasgow.”
“BT Sport customers are set for two weeks of great tennis in November, starting with the Billie Jean King Cup bringing the likes of Coco Gauff to their screens, followed by the UK Pro League Finals later in the month”, said Rachel Knight, sports rights director at BT Sport.
