In a newly-released national survey, Dearborn’s Allegria Village has been recognized as having some of the nation’s best skilled short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing home care.

U.S. News & World Report (U.S. News) awarded Allegria Village a 5 Star rating in its 2022-2023 ranking of the nation’s best nursing homes, released Nov. 15. Concurrently, Medicare.gov – the official federal government website of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) – gave Allegria Village an exemplary 5 Star rating for nursing homes.

“I’m very proud of our staff and the recognition for providing patients in our care with highly skilled, compassionate and personalized nursing care to get back on their feet following surgery, injury or during illness,” said Dasha Hollingshed, Assistant Administrator at Allegria Village.

The magazine evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes across the country, assigning each eligible nursing home an overall rating from one to five.  This rating evaluates care for both long-term residents with chronic needs and short-term residents who may receive rehabilitation following a hospital stay.

Top marks from Medicare.gov were based on health inspections, staffing, and quality measures.

U.S. News recognized Allegria Village’s skilled nursing facility with its “High Performing” rating for both its short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.  Nationwide, only 16% of the nursing homes U.S. News evaluated in this year’s survey met those criteria.
“The Best Nursing Homes ratings highlight nursing homes that excel in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care needs,” said Zach Adams, senior health data engineer at U.S. News.

The magazine’s methodology factored in data such as resident care, safety and outcomes.

Both short- and long-term ratings include data on the consistency of registered nurse staffing, use of antipsychotic drugs, and success in preventing emergency room and hospital visits.  The short-term rehabilitation rating also includes measures of a nursing home’s success in preventing falls, preventing serious infections, and making sure residents are able to return home.

“As an organization, we take great pride in our Allegria Village skilled nursing care team, they reflect our commitment as an organization to provide excellence in nursing care to all,” said Sia Janga, Regional Director of Care and Quality Management at Allegria Senior Living, parent company of Allegria Village.
