Students looking to pursue the most popular online degree in the nation have a solid offering in Tampa Bay, according to a new report.
According to U.S. News and World Report, the University of South Florida is the No. 19 best university in the country to earn an online MBA degree. It’s a significant jump from its standing last year, which was No. 32. In the last five years, USF’s MBA program has jumped 63 spots.
The school is tied with Auburn University, Ball State, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Villanova, Hofstra University, James Madison University and the online campus of Penn State.
Lakeland-based Florida Southern College landed at No. 51 in the MBA programs and is one of the only two Tampa Bay universities on the list. The University of Florida ranked No. 4 in the nation.
The report is based on engagement, peer assessment, faculty credentials and training, student excellence and student services and technologies.
U.S. News and World Report also ranked the nation’s top online bachelor’s programs. St. Petersburg College landed at No. 95, with Pasco County-based Saint Leo University ranking No. 124. University of Florida was No. 1 in the nation, while USF was absent from the list.
