finishes with low ranking in USA TODAY Sports’ re-rank – Auburn Wire

A wild 2022 season for the Auburn Tigers has come to a close, and, thankfully, better times are ahead.
Following Georgia’s impressive win over TCU in the College Football Playoff national championship game at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports revealed his final re-rank of every college football team from best to worst. His final list does not bode well for the Tigers: He placed Auburn at No. 75.
There is good news and bad news with this ranking. The good news is  Auburn is the highest-rated team on the list that failed to become bowl eligible. However, Auburn ends the year as the lowest-ranked team in the state of Alabama. The state featured a trio of 10-win programs in 2022. Alabama was No. 6. Troy checked in at No. 15. South Alabama ended up at No. 37. UAB closed the campaign 7-6 and was at No. 74, one spot above Auburn.
Auburn’s demise seems to be in its final days, however. Since the hiring of Hugh Freeze on Nov. 28, Auburn has seen an uptick in recruiting which has boosted morale among fans and players. The results will be seen on the field rather quickly, and these days will soon be behind us.
