Police have confirmed that a 'suspicious vehicle' spotted in a North Staffordshire village was in fact a man just doing his job. Officers have moved to reassure residents in Werrington and Ash Bank after receiving multiple reports regarding the vehicle.
Some had claimed that the man was seen shining a torch at their homes in the early hours. But Staffordshire Police say checks have revealed that the vehicle's owner was simply delivering newspapers in the area.
A spokesman said: "Following recent reports of a suspicious vehicle in the Werrington Area, Staffordshire Moorlands Officers have made enquiries and spoken to the keeper of the vehicle. All is in order, the keeper is operating a newspaper round in the area and is of no concern."
