The San Francisco 49ers have announced a new radio broadcast rights partnership with UK national radio station TalkSport for the 2022 National Football League (NFL) season.
The deal will see TalkSport provide live coverage of at least 11 49ers games over the course of the upcoming campaign after the team became one of six in the NFL to gain UK marketing rights through the new International Home Marketing Areas (IHMA) programme. In addition, TalkSport will provide 49ers programming throughout the season.
The agreement with UK national radio station comes after the 49ers recently agreed a similar deal with Grupo Formula in Mexico earlier this month.
“Finding a UK-based sports radio broadcast partner with national reach was imperative for us and that’s why TalkSport was our top target in the market,” said Alex Chang, chief marketing officer of the San Francisco 49ers.
“Along with a solid listenership for our compelling 49ers content, TalkSport also has a large social fanbase that allows us to reach more sports fans throughout the country.”
Will Gavin, TalkSport host and gameday editor, added: “The growth of the NFL in the UK over the last decade has been exponential, and we couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with one of the league’s top franchises in the 49ers.
“In addition to live commentaries, we’ll provide on-air, online & social media coverage throughout the week – with exclusive interviews and content to be enjoyed by all UK NFL fans.
