The past year has been a year full of controversy and change to the legal education landscape. Some law school professionals tested the limits of academic freedom, law schools may possibly become test-optional in the future and approximately 10% of law schools plan to no longer participate in the U.S. News & World Report education rankings. Law school admissions are down, there are some law school lawsuits that continue and a law student made a name for himself on Jeopardy!
The year started with a double whammy that involved Amy Wax, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, and Ilya Shapiro, former vice president and director of the Robert A. Levy Center for Constitutional Studies at the Cato Institute and currently a senior fellow and director of constitutional studies at the Manhattan Institute seemingly testing the boundaries of free speech.
