USA Shooting’s Ali Weisz and Sagen Maddalena tied for third place to earn bronze medals on Friday in the 10m Women’s Air Rifle event at the 2022 ISSF President’s Cup in Egypt. (This article was updated at 1:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, to reflect the tie.)
In the first semi-final, Weisz fell to Oceanne Muller of France, 17-7. Muller would go on to win the gold medal in the final.
As for Maddalena, in her semi-final she lost to Czech shooter and silver medalist Lucie Brazdova, 17-13.
Weisz entered the 10m Women’s Air Rifle event semi-finals after placing second in her ranking match with a score of 210, only 0.2 points behind Maddalena, who was at the top of the leaderboard for that match.
The 2022 ISSF President’s Cup, which began in Cairo, Egypt, on November 28, will wrap up on December 4. Athletes with a world ranking of 12 or higher are eligible to receive an invitation. There were 11 total athletes from the United States invited to this year’s tournament, where Golden Target awards will be handed out for rifle, pistol and shotgun events.
