U.S. News & World Report Names UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital Amongst Best Hospitals for Maternity Care – India Education Diary

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, a global leader in women’s health care and research, has been recognized as a 2022-2023 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by U.S. News & World Report.

“UPMC Magee welcomes more than 10,000 babies a year into the world, and this honor is a testament to our teams’ commitment of providing the highest-quality maternity care to the families in our regions,” said Richard Beigi, M.D., president of UPMC Magee. “We provide maternity care throughout all the regions that UPMC serves via our women’s health service line, and we are honored to provide our expectant parents with safe, high-quality patient experiences. It’s a privilege to serve our communities in this manner, and we take this responsibility very seriously.”

In addition to UPMC Magee, UPMC Harrisburg and UPMC Williamsport also have been recognized as High Performing in Maternity Care.

The annual evaluation is designed to assist expectant parents, in consultation with their doctors, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care. This is the highest award a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 650 hospitals that provide high-quality labor & delivery services for uncomplicated pregnancies for its 2022-2023 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care. Fewer than half of all hospitals that offer maternity care and participated in the survey received a High Performing designation.

To be recognized among the Best Hospitals for Maternity, hospitals had to excel on multiple quality metrics that matter to expectant families, including C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, early elective delivery rates and vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) rates, among other measures.
