Shocking moment drug-driver crashes head-on with Vauxhall – with four seriously hurt but survive out of ‘… – The Sun

THIS is the shocking moment two Vauxhalls crashed head-on seriously injuring four people who survived out of "sheer luck".
The horror collision was captured on another vehicle's dash cam and footage shows a Vauxhall Cavalier attempting to overtake
But a Vauxhall Agila was travelling in the opposite direction and smashed head on into the Cavalier, sending it flying.
There were three people in the Cavalier, who spent weeks fighting for their lives in hospital, and just the driver in the Agila, who sustained a list of horrific injuries, too.
The video has now been shared, with the permission of victims, as the driver of the Cavalier has been jailed for the Wales smash.
Gavin Andrew Evans, 36, appeared at Mold Crown Court yesterday after previously being found guilty of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by driving whilst disqualified.
The Treuddyn man had a list of driving convictions and did not hold a valid driving licence or insurance at the time of the crash.
He was also over twice the legal limit for cannabis when his Cavalier collided with the Agila.
The horror unfolded around 7pm on the B5430 between Rhydtalog and The Moors Inn crossroads on October 4, 2020.
Evans had two passengers in his car at the time and, as he drove towards Gwynfryn.
Following the smash, the driver of the Agila – a 30-year-old woman from Mold – was rushed to hospital.
She was described to be in a critical condition, with a catalogue of serious injuries.
Evans and his two passengers also sustained life-threatening injuries and spent several weeks in hospital.
Following the sentencing, Senior Investigating Officer Sergeant Meurig Jones, of North Wales Police's Roads Policing Unit, said: “Evans had no consideration for others as he drove dangerously that evening.
"It is only by sheer luck that this wasn’t a multiple fatal road traffic collision investigation."
“This case highlights the devastating consequences of such a poor standard of driving and the serious, often life-changing repercussions that this can have on other road users."
Sergeant Jones said the nature of the injuries would have a long-lasting effect on everyone involved.
He added: "The significant delay in bringing this case to court was due to the injuries sustained.
"The case also highlights the benefits of dash cam footage to our investigations.
“Evans is now behind bars facing the consequences of his completely reckless actions.”
The 36-year-old was jailed for three and a half years and also disqualified from driving for six years and nine months.
He was found to have had an "appalling" history of driving convictions with two for dangerous driving and a ninth conviction for driving when banned.
The victims have given permission for the footage to be shared publicly.
