Hundreds of tonnes of detritus were swept from Trafford’s streets in the month of October.
Trafford Council has revealed the amount of debris it swept during the month.
More than 268 tonnes of detritus were swept from roads and pavements in the borough.
The council says that streets and pavements are swept all year round on a 12-week cycle, meaning that each street gets four sweeps a year.
The 268.56 tonnes it swept in October was compared to the weight of the tyrannosaurus rex.
Trafford Council said the amount of detritus swept is equivalent to 30 of the extinct carnivorous dinosaurs, which lived in the Late Cretaceous period – or between 100.5 to 66 million years ago.
In October, we swept just over 268 tonnes of detritus from the highway. That’s the same weight as 30 T-rex! 🦖

Billions were purported to have roamed the earth – though they roamed in North America, so it’s unlikely they could have been found anywhere near Dunham Massey.
Had Trafford Council been sweeping the streets on a 12-week cycle since the end of the Late Cretaceous period, the streets would have been swept more than 264 million times.
Trafford Council was founded on April 1, 1974 to replace the boroughs of Altrincham, Sale, and Stretford.
