Sport Unites is the Mayor’s flagship community sports programme. It supports his long-term vision to make London the most active and socially-integrated city in the world set out in Sport for All of Us – the Mayor’s strategy for sport and physical activity in London.
In our work to support Londoners, we are focused on supporting initiatives that use sport and physical activity to tackle five key priority areas in London:
This is achieved by investing in sport and physical activity projects that enable local, free or affordable interventions for improved health and wellbeing through our Sport Unites Fund, or targeting our investment in collaboration with other sport and non-sport organisations to scale-up initiatives that tackle one or the two of the five priority areas.
This area of work supports the community sport sector in responding to, transitioning out of, and recovering from the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this work, we invest in people and programmes that support the long-term sustainability of the community sport sector. This includes our organisational development programme which provides a training offer to community sport organisations to support the health and growth of their organisations, as well as their workforce and volunteers.
The Sport Unites programme is comprised of key projects that contribute to the Mayor’s long-term vision to make London the most active and socially-integrated city in the world.
Through Sport Unites investment, the Mayor has supported initiatives addressing different outcomes. Find out more about the impact Sport Unites projects have had since the launch of the programme in 2018.
