A NEWLYWED couple were left devastated after gift cards containing £700 vanished the day after their wedding.
Kayleigh, 29, and Ashley Hanrahan's bubble of marital bliss was burst after discovering some of their gifts had disappeared.
She explained they had asked guests to drop any envelopes in their novelty postbox at the reception at Gathurst Golf Club in Wigan, Greater Manchester.
The couple claims it was full to the brim after a full day of partying with their relatives and pals on October 7.
They then headed to bed for some well-deserved rest.
But when Kayleigh and Ashley, 31, woke up the following morning, they say the postbox was completely empty less than 12 hours later.
The duo said around 50 gift cards containing at least £700 had somehow vanished from the venue.
The newlyweds said they were "absolutely heartbroken" and want to track down the heartless thieves who ruined their big day.
Stay-at-home mum Kayleigh and her HGV driver hubby didn't even get to open a single card congratulating them on tying the knot.
She fumed: "We're sad about the money, which is a lot, but it's mostly the sentimental value of the cards which I wanted to keep.
"We never even got to open and read them. We had to contact all our guests to find out exactly how much was missing. It was more than £700.
"They have been stolen – who could do something like that? We've waited such a long time for our wedding.
"I'm so angry and upset that someone could do this to us on our wedding night."
The parents decided to get hitched after being in a relationship for more than a decade.
After saying their vows at a lodge near their family home, they headed to celebrate at the golf club.
Kayleigh said a ground-floor conference room had been decorated for the occasion.
A postbox was also provided by an events company to give guests a place to deposit their cash-filled cards.
But when the blushing bride turned up at the club at 12pm the next day, it had disappeared from the room.
The 29-year-old said: "We were the last to leave and the cards were in the box which was tied shut with a sash.
"When I came back the next day everything had been moved to another room so the big one could be cleaned.
"Everything else was there, the cake, the bouquet, and all the other gifts, but the post box had gone and there were no cards.
"It's heartbreaking. I just want justice."
Kayleigh's brother launched a fundraiser for the couple so they can take their kids on the honeymoon to Wales, what they had hoped to use their missing cash for.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed it is investigating the case.
Gathurst Golf Club and the events company declined to comment.
