IAAPA, the global association for the attractions industry, has announced contenders for one of the industry’s most prominent recognition schemes, the Brass Ring Awards.
The annual scheme recognises attractions including amusement and theme parks, water parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, FECs and suppliers from around the world, focussing on excellence in F&B, games and retail, human resources, live entertainment, marketing, new products, and exhibits.
Brass rings were first put on carousels in the 1800s as a challenge for the rider, with a free ride or other rewards being frequently given to carousel riders who successfully grabbed a ring.
Getting a brass ring was a prized and celebrated treat because few rings were made of brass and the majority of rings were made of iron. Today, the phrase “brass ring” is used to refer to exceptional achievements celebrated by IAAPA within the amusement industry.
