Portales – Eastern New Mexico University earned status as a U.S. News “Best College.”
ENMU earned the ranking because of what a news report from the university’s Marketing and Communications department termed its “excellent standing” in the recently published 2022-2023 Best College rankings.
ENMU was ranked in the top 50 percent of universities in the category of social mobility, for regional universities in the west.
The report said social mobility rankings focus on economically disadvantaged students who are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for other characteristics.
Universities recognized in this category are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants. The vast majority of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted annual gross family incomes are under $50,000.
“ENMU’s mission of ‘Student Success’ means that our graduates are just as competitive in the workforce or graduate programs as students from other, more expensive or elite institutions.” ENMU President Patrice Caldwell said.
Eastern New Mexico University was also ranked as one of the top 59 public Universities in the west and one of the top 120 Regional Universities in the west.
