For the first time since 2003, the MLS Cup final will feature the No. 1 seeds from the Eastern and Western Conferences.
The top seed in the East, the Philadelphia Union, advanced to their first MLS Cup with a 3-1 win over the defending league champions, New York City FC.
Los Angeles FC, the top seed in the West and Supporters’ Shield winners, advanced to their first MLS Cup with a 3-0 win over Austin FC.
The 2022 Major League Soccer playoffs are taking place earlier than usual this year in order to be completed with time to spare before the start of the World Cup in Qatar.

Los Angeles FC – the Supporters’ Shield winners – will host MLS Cup at Banc of California Stadium. .
