Travel warning for commuters as Glasgow Subway to CLOSE next month… – The Scottish Sun

GLASGOW subway passengers are being warned to expect disruptions across services as major renovations get underway next month.
The underground rain provider announced the planned modernisation works on social media this afternoon.
Service on both the inner and outer lines will be suspended for two Sundays in November with no trains running on those days.
Subway passengers won't be able to travel on the loop on Sunday, November 6 and Sunday, November 13.
The operator will run a partial shuttle bus service free-of-charge between Govan and Patrick for those intending to travel between the two stops.
The bus service will run during Subway operating hours from stance 1 at Govan and stance 2 at Partick.
SPT Staff will be on hand to assist.
Posting on Twitter, @GLASubwayTravel said: "Due to continued Subway modernisation works there will be no service on Sunday 6 and 13 November.
"A shuttle bus service will operate, free of charge for intending Subway passengers, between Partick & Govan only."
The Sunday closures are to allow for the intensive modernisation work to be undertaken and for new cabling and equipment to be installed on the line.
Glasgow Subway have said they expect more closures to follow early into 2023 as they complete the modernisation work.
A spokesperson for SPT, who run the subway, said: "This additional time the closures give the Subway Joint Venture (JV), contracted to deliver the Subway modernisation programme, will progress the installation of our new signalling and communication systems for the new trains.
"This work involves laying cables between stations and then mounting them onto brackets within the tunnels.
"The closures will also give the JV the opportunity to progress initial civil works required to strengthen our station platforms to enable the installation of Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) at a later date."
