Syracuse, N.Y. — The largest schools in the most populated sports across New York state are about to be put in a new class of their own.
The governing body of New York state high school athletics voted on Wednesday to create six classifications in seven sports starting in the 2023-24 school year. That’s up from the current five classes used by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association: Class AA containing schools with the highest enrollment numbers to Class D with the lowest enrollment numbers.
